Dr. Lisa Willmert

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Lisa Willmert was only seven years old when she decided to become a veterinarian. Her choice was inspired largely by her mother, who always took in any stray who needed help. Now Dr. Willmert gets to help pets every day as a veterinarian!

Dr. Willmert grew up in Peoria, Illinois and completed her undergraduate studies in animal science at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. After moving to the Twin Cities and working in various veterinary clinics to gain experience, she began veterinary school at the University of Minnesota, graduating in 2001. She joined the team here at Burnsville Parkway Animal Hospital in April of 2005.

As a vet, Dr. Willmert particularly enjoys internal medicine and feline behavior cases. For her, both are challenging yet rewarding. She’s also passionate about education and teaches at a veterinary technician school in Eagan, Minnesota when not attending to her duties around the clinic.

Dr. Willmert lives in Chaska with her husband, Roger, and their three cats: Kayla, Max, and Marley. When she has time, she enjoys traveling to places she’s never been. Her most memorable trip was visiting Sydney, Australia, and getting to see kangaroos, koala bears, and cockatoos in the wild!
