6 Reasons to Celebrate International Cat Day

Did you know that there is a special kitty holiday coming up? International Cat Day is August 8th. While this may not call for a huge bash, it’s definitely something to celebrate. A Lakeville, MN vet lists some great suggestions below.

Pounces

Our feline buddies are super cute, one way they brighten up our lives. Fluffy is never more adorable than when she is fiercely ‘stalking’ a catnip mouse or bottlecap. Kitties’ playful antics definitely helped people cope with being stuck at home this year!

Cuddles

Another reason to celebrate our feline friends is the fact that they are such great snugglers. Cats often loves to doze off on their humans’ laps and/or curl up with us at night. Those kitty cuddles are actually very soothing, and can be very comforting in troubled times. Cuddles from a purring cat make any day better!

Mousing

Admittedly, this one isn’t as critical as it used to be, at least for most of us. However, it’s important to remember how we became friends with Fluffy in the first place. Our feline pals initially helped keep our farms and homes free of vermin. In return for these services, they got food, shelter, water, and, eventually, catnip, lap space, ear scritches, cat towers, and boxes. Kitties actually fared pretty well in that bargain!

Cattitude

Cats may be small, but they have big purrsonalities. You have to chuckle at the way our feline overlords react to things. Fluffy may give you a little meow of protest if you move her mid-nap, and she has no qualms about stealing your chair or sitting on your computer.

Charms

Our furry friends are definitely super adorable. With that cute face, charming meow, and lovable antics, it’s no wonder that kitties melt our hearts so easily. And, while cats are cute at any age, they’re almost impossibly adorable when they’re kittens. (Kittens are also almost impossibly mischievous, but that’s a whole other topic.)

Purrs

Fluffy has many charms, but one of her cutest attributes is the way she literally vibrates with happiness. Some kitties are so affectionate and lovable that they start purring as soon as you pet them. It’s hard not to smile when Fluffy starts her engine!
